Reception Lore From the Program: The 24th annual meeting of the Midwest Medieval Conference (MMC) will be held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, October 11-12, 1985. Since the first meeting of the MMC at Urbana-Champaign meetings have been held on various midwestern campuses with participants from more distant parts, as well as from our own area. The interests of MMC conferences are broadly defined. Largely comprised of historians, the MMC welcomes papers and attendance by scholars from other disciplines who wish to address historical concerns. The 1985 program includes a morning session devoted to women's history and a variety of interesting subjects in the afternoon. Prof. John Baldwin of Johns Hopkins will give us a foretaste of his Opus Magnum in his dinner address on "The Achievement of Philip Augustus." E. Randolph Daniel will host our traditional and much enjoyed president's reception on Saturday evening at the University Inn after the dinner meeting. The program chairman for the 24th annual meeting of the Midwest Medieval Conference is John Freed, Illinois State University. |
