Davis, Denison University Conference Announcement Medieval Church and Society: A Tribute to Joseph H. Lynch Registration and Program Information Now Available Below The forty-ninth annual meetng of the Midwest Medieval
History Conference will be held on This year's meeting is centered around the theme of "Medieval Church and Society," in honor of Joseph H. Lynch, Distinguished University Professor, Joe R. Engle Professor of the History of Christianity at The Ohio State University, and longtime member of the MMHC, who died unexpectedly in December of 2008 at the age of 65. The conference will commence on Friday afternoon with graduate student papers. Saturday will feature scholarly papers on a range of topics, as well as a keynote address. Professor John Van Engen will give this
year's keynote. Professor Van Engen is the Andrew V. Tackes Professor
of History at the University of Notre Dame, where he also served as
Director of the Medieval Ins1tute. Over the course of his career, he
has been a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton,
a fellow of the Medieval Academy of America, and a corresponding member
of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica. His publications include Rupert
of Deutz (1983), Devotio Moderna (1988), Religion in the
